JUST IN: Imo State to get Additional New State, as Bill Passes First Reading
An act to alter the provisions of the constitution of federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (As Amended) to create a new state in the southeastern region of Nigeria known as Orlu State and for related matters.

Enacted by the national Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The Constitution of the federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (As Amended) herein refered to as the "Principal Act") is further altered as set out in this Bill.
Anambra, Bauchi River, Delta, Ebonyi, Edo, Ekiti Enugu, Gombe, Imo, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kastina Kebbi, Kogi, Kwara, Lagos, Nasarawa, Niger, Ogun, Ondo, Orlu, Osun, Oyo, Plateau, Rivers, Sokoto, Taraba Yobe and Zamfara.
2. Section 3 is amended by increasing the number of states thirty Seven as follows.
3. There shall be thirty -seven states in Nigeria that is to say Abia, Adamawa, Akwa Ibom.
